My whole life I’ve always dreamed about having long and thick hair. My mom was blessed with the most insanely gorgeous head of mermaid hair, and I’ve always strived to have my hair look like hers. Unfortunately, she did not bless me with the mermaid hair gene. My natural hair grows extremely slow and is tragically thin. I’ve been trying to grow it out for at least 10 years now, getting it trimmed only to keep it healthy and never taking off any major length. It took me about a decade to finally get the length I want, but as you can see from the picture below, my hair is so thin that when it’s long it starts to look stringy and spaced out at the bottom.
I’ve tried clip-in extensions in the past, which gave me the look I want, but they functionally just don’t work for me to the point that I never wear them. Clip-ins take FOREVER and were such a struggle for me to put in. I couldn’t place them in well without help and they added such a long time to my morning routine that I never felt like they were worth the hassle. I was always worried about them showing when I went out. You can’t swim, sleep, or exercise wearing clip-ins and they would get destroyed by being worn to the beach. For as much as I value my time and love staying active, clip-ins are clearly not the best option for me.

The first part of the process is picking out which length and color of extensions are best for you. I chose 18 inch extensions, which are just slightly longer than my natural hair. The color we picked out happened to match my hair perfectly, so we did not have to do any extra toning. However, the extensions are able to be colored and toned along with your natural hair if needed.
You also have a choice between “5 Star” or “7 Star” hair. Every single hair strand from Hairdreams is selected to ensure top-of-the-line quality. Hairdreams extensions are made with 100% human hair and are obtained in an ethical manner. Here are the main differences between the two types:
5 Star:
- Made from dark real human hair
- Hair has been lightened then colored to get the desired shade.
- Wearing period of 4-6 months
7 Star:
- Made from European-like hair with natural colors that range from dark to light.
- Hair has been adjusted by only a maximum of one shade to get the desired color
- Wearing period of 4-6 months, but can last up to 1.5 year with rebonding

The application process was easy, fast, and painless. Hairdreams has developed their very own Laserbeamer Nano, which is a machine that invisibly and quickly bonds the extensions into your hair. The Laserbeamer Nano dramatically cuts down the time that the application process takes. Without the help of this device, hair stylists would have to roll in every single extension by hand. I know people who spend 3-4 hours in the salon getting the same service I am getting, but by choosing Hairdreams this whole process only took us an hour!

You can see that it is a subtle, natural-looking change that makes a dramatic difference. The extensions blend in perfectly with my hair and you cannot tell that I have them in at all. I have gotten a ton of compliments since getting them and people are always shocked to hear that it’s not all my natural hair because it blends so well. I love the way I look so much that I never want to go back to not having extensions in. I especially love the way my hair looks when it’s curled.
